About Nobody from Ipanema
Nobody from Ipanema is a fusion of Americans and Brazilians playing music inspired by Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, Lenine, and other contemporary Brazilian artists. We've been playing at the Elbo Room, Justice League, Great American, and other Bay Area clubs for the past 5 years; we were finalists in 2000 and 2001 in SF Weekly’s WAMMIE awards (Best International Band), and have been featured in the Bay Guardian and other area publications. We play a wide variety of danceable material: high-energy Brazilian funk, samba-reggae, percussion jams, samba, afoxé, forró, frevo, rock, reggae, and pop.
